چکیده
Abstract The coastal area is sub-optimal land which poor in nutrients. Therefore it necessary to add organic matter increase nutrients content. research that has been conducted aims determine the effect of seaweed compost and biochar application on soybean growth sandy soils. was arranged a Completely Randomized Design consisting two factors. first factor dose compost, namely 0, 20, 40, 60. second giving biochar, without biochar. data were analyzed using Analysis Variance, if there significant difference, tested with Duncans Multiple Range test at 5% level. results showed interaction between significantly increased rate plant height. Biochar dry weight pod number. Seaweed only root weight. number nodules, length, harvest index not affected by

Synergisms between Compost and Biochar for Sustainable Soil Amelioration
Driven by climate change and population growth, increasing human pressure on land forces conversion of natural landscapes to agricultural fields and pastures while simultaneously depleting land currently under agricultural use (Lal, 2009). Consequently, a vicious circle develops; further aggravating climate change, soil degradation, erosion, loss of soil organic matter (SOM) and leaching of nut...
متن کاملBenefits of biochar, compost and biochar-compost for soil quality, maize yield and greenhouse gas emissions in a tropical agricultural soil.
Soil quality decline represents a significant constraint on the productivity and sustainability of agriculture in the tropics. In this study, the influence of biochar, compost and mixtures of the two on soil fertility, maize yield and greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions was investigated in a tropical Ferralsol. The treatments were: 1) control with business as usual fertilizer (F); 2) 10 t ha(-1) bio...
متن کاملBiochar from commercially cultivated seaweed for soil amelioration
Seaweed cultivation is a high growth industry that is primarily targeted at human food and hydrocolloid markets. However, seaweed biomass also offers a feedstock for the production of nutrient-rich biochar for soil amelioration. We provide the first data of biochar yield and characteristics from intensively cultivated seaweeds (Saccharina, Undaria and Sargassum--brown seaweeds, and Gracilaria, ...
متن کاملEffects of sewage sludge and its biochar on soybean yield in fine-textured loess soil
Background: The application of biochar as a soil amendment has achieved popularity and has been found to improve considerably soil nutrient status and plant productivity in low fertile soils. Methods: This study used two different methods to apply sewage sludge and sewage sludge biochar with three replicates in a completely randomized block design. The experiment included (1) control, (2) mulc...
متن کاملUtilisation of distillery effluent in coastal sandy soil to improve soil fertility and yield of sugarcane
Coastal sandy soil is characterised by low fertility and poor physical properties. Distillery effluent, a liquid waste from the distillery industry contains large quantities of soluble organic matter and plant nutrients. It does not contain any toxic elements / compounds. In order to improve the physical properties and fertility of the coastal soil by utilising the distillery effluent, field ex...
